I see delays of 2-3 days for my mails and that too only on the Linux India Help list. I use gmane to post and read messages. And gmane does the verification for genuine email addresses. In fact I use the sourcefoge alias to post mails to MLs. As far as smtp is concerned, that's configured on my laptop. It could be one of the reasons (maybe my messages get greylisted), but from my machine the messages leave then and there.
