This role directly defines the globally supported Red Hat hardware ecosystem through review of automated testing results; providing assistance to IHV's and internal staff on the use, operation and debugging the certification suite and process as well as expanding and furthering the overall experience for both IHV's and the Hardware Catalog users. Responsibilities Include: Review and validation of certification results to ensure they meet or exceed criteria. Posting valid certifications; creating knowledge base entries as required for certified hardware. Providing feedback, support and debugging of certification process and test runs to internal and external customers. Assisting with program development (may include process, procedures, and software improvements). Handling representative hardware; may include setup, installation, transfer, etc. Will involve lifting of heavy systems and other hardware. Qualifications: 2+ years PC hardware experience, assembly and/or maintenance. 2+ years Linux installation and configuration experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. In depth understanding of RPM and Anaconda, including package construction and complex installation scenarios. In depth understanding of shell programming and debugging. Well rounded understanding of the Linux kernel and XFree86/X.org drivers and configuration there of. Self-managing with excellent time management skills. Red Hat Certified Technician or equivalent experience. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. Desirable Skills: Quality Assurance test experience. Additional programming languages (C, Python, Perl, and Web programing a plus). Additional hardware platform experience (IBM Power, IBM zSeries, or Intel IPF a plus). CompTIA A+, Red Hat Certified Technician or Red Hat Certified Engineer certifications (or similar).
