Lugger's
Thanks to all the inputs I am finally able to connect to internet
through Nokia phone. Frustating in parts as listed in caveats beow.

I used Ubuntu 5.10 utility pppconfig to set the following:
Number : #777
User : my phone # without leading zero
Password : my phone # without leading zero
Speed : 115200
COMport: /dev/ttyUSB0
Authentication : PAP
Modem init : ATZ+crm=1;+cso=33
ISP connect string : \d\c

I named this connection Test and the gave the following command to connect:
$pon Test

To disconnect:
$poff

Worked very well with speeds up to 100 kbps. Created a launch icon on
desktop for pon and poff (if only some scripting guru can make it into
one script which detects ppp connection and juggles between pon and
poff)

CAVEATS:
1. This has been tested on Nokia 2112 only. This did not work for Nokia 6225
2. Beware - All DKU-5 cables are not made equal. The ones with cable
coming from right hand side on the phone base connector (arrow pointer
on top) worked while the ones with cable from left hand did not.
Although both came from Reliance and carry same part Number!!
3. Even when you turn off the connection the phone does not drop
connection. You have to manually use stop call button on phone...even
if you disconnect the cable.
