Hi Vikas,
If I remember correctly, "f" will give you a halant (ZWJ) and "ff"
will give you a ZWNJ - so that you can type half characters & halant'd
characters separately. We made this change in keymaps going into
Fedora. Please check
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/development/i386/os/Fedora/
for latest m17n-db-hindi package. I'm not sure if this goes into
Ubuntu also.

Also, have a look at /usr/share/m17n/hi-phonetic.mim file. And if you
