Without prejudice, I don't understand the connection.  Phatak has won a 
MS award.  So has Richard Stallman.  How is that related to their 
support of open standards?

I'm glad if Phatak is speaking out against OOXML and MS' practices since 
he carries a fair amount of weight in academia and Govt. circles.
