Are you looking to measure performance of IO intensive workloads or CPU intensive workloads ? I haven't used sysmark and the other tools you have mentioned, but I'd guess that even these tools measure individual components of a system, assigning them relative values to come up with a value which they then label as the performance of the complete system relative to some other arbit. system. IO benchmarking tools like iozone or bonnie would help you. There are other similar tools for measuring samba, NFS, apache and database performance as well.
