*Title : LWTI : Latex/Wiki to ipaper : a online pdf editor
Abstract : *This 'idea document" deal with making a online pdf editor where
pdf can be generated collaboratively similar to wikipedia.
*Description : *
Ipaper is a innovation of http://www.scribd.com/ . they host pdf
files and store in ipaper format which you can view in ipaper viewer. They
provide a javascript API (
http://www.scribd.com/publisher/api?method_name=Javascript+API ) for ipaper
viewer. Latex is a format for generating pdf files. Wiki syntax which is a
subset of latex. wikipedia gives a editing and rendering tool based on wiki
syntax. monkeytex ( http://www.monkeytex.com/ ) is a site where you can
convert latex to pdf. zamzar ( www.zamzar.com ) is a site where you can
convert other files formats into pdf. So One can make a new web2.0 web
application which take advantage (mix) of all above technology.
*Inshort : it is a a online pdf viewer cum editor based on wiki
markup syntax.*
So I am calling this concept as "LWTI", which means all user will
given a user interface for online editing much similar to wikipedia editor
for wiki pages. user will write document using wiki markup syntax which is
very easy, But at the same time you also provide Latex Syntax also. so that
user can generate a rich pdf files. Next when user click on "show preview"
or Submit, some php function on server side will be called. Server will
first convert your wiki text into pdf and then automatically upload to
scribd server. After that you can embed the resultant ipaper at anywhere.
The best thing about this is "user will feel he is editing a online
pdf file. At the same time you maintain its wiki/latext markup copy on your
server" so, whenever another user want to edit, he will be able to make
changes in existing latex files using editor and the changes will be
reflected back to ipaper and new pdf is uploaded on the same place.
Only disadvante of this tecnique is -- this whole system will be
very slow unless a high processing is done at server side. with ipaper, user
will be able to user javascript api for ipaper.
You need to study all terms and conditions of ipaper and scribed.
You can derive any business model for your startup. Developing a such
website (online pdf editor) will take 1 to 2 man-year efforts.
If anybody want to work on this idea, Feel free to contact me. Also
response ,. this idea is good or bad.

I hope i am not spamming
