Raj replied with some commandline-fu. Actually, with Ubuntu these days I think it's easier than that with gparted and it's gui goodness. I'm pretty sure I've done that in that last year like that, and it was all point and click without even bothering to back up. Of course I can't remember the details - I've a memory like a...um....that thing with little holes in it...
