Hello Rakesh, I didn't asked that whether there is separate /home partition or not on the HDD. Actually i suggested you to use one...:P And can you provide us your installation/up-gradation logs of the broken machine? If possible. And also tell us the hardware you are using. And do consider logs carefully, they can give you a good idea about your problem like failure of up-gradation of a particular package.
