sure. am just finishing my research into seeing how good the gnulinux soup
holds up against the heavy professional but proprietory commercialware in
graphic design. so, i would be quite happy to share this research and give a
talk+demo on how freedom-based toolz could be used for creativity that
demands freedom anywayz.
i think i'd also like to wait a little and watch the upcoming rh8 and new
slew of distributions coming up circa next week. eye-candy is quite important
to the design types, which is why they are willing to pay a hefty amount more
for macintoshes, for running software they could run on other platforms at
half or even less. the price/performance thing dropped off after 1997-98, but
the eye-candy guyz never noticed.
gnulinux seems to take the title crown when it comes to eye-candy. so that
makes its reception rather warm in the graphic design community.
vipul/morpheus has seen some of the cosmetic changes i've made to my
gnulinux, and i often get a wow or two from the casual over-the-shoulder
viewers.
am impressed with the rapid pace of development in graphic design tools under
the movement, but i really need to test them for professional, torture-tests,
stress-tests, and key-feature comparisions before we sing some unchained
melodies.

write / contact rms directly. i only know a couple of things where he's
supposed to be involved. the rest is his, er... freedom.

yes. vipul knows that since december/jan, have been keen to invite, involve,
dr abdul kalam into the freedom-based movement. stunningly, he became the
president of india. simple question: is it possible to invite him for a talk
at sarai. i know it is not impossible. we just need to figure out a
compelling reason why he needs to, and i suppose/hope he would be more than
willing to speak a few words on this.
