I have a Win2K Active Directory box, using which I want to authenticate users on my
linux box. I do'nt want to create any user accounts on Linux box and instead use the
username and passwords on the Active Directory Win2k box.

I have installed the latest Samba2.2.3a and configured winbindd. I could succesfully
join the domain. "wbinfo -t" shows "Secret is good", which indicates I am able to
connect to the Domain Controller also.

However, wbinfo -u, or wbinfo -g, gets me "Error looking up domain users". After some
struggle, I could find that this is due to "Restrict Anonymous" (DWORD=0) setting on
my domain controller. I would like to set it to DWORD=2, thereby allowing anonymous
usage. This is required as winbindd connects as an anonymous user.

However, attempting to login using wbinfo -a user%password also results in
authentication failure. Is this also related to "Restrict Anonymous issue"??

Has anyone succesfully used linux users login and authentication against a Win2k
Domain Controller??
