Do you really expect a vendor, who normally does nothing more than click
here n there for installing windows, to successfully install linux...and
that too on some hardware that might not be fully compatible with
standards ?
Without outstanding zeal on the vendor's part, i dont see this happening
anytime soon.
In fact, when i went to nehru place and asked some people if they will
install linux on the machine instead of windows, they said that they'd
rather gimme a blank disk and linux CDs if im so interested in it.
Next time i have some spare time, i'll go down to nehru place and try this
thing again. i hope their attitude has changed.

52 !!!! wow man, you are one majorly optimistic person ! we were having
difficulties looking for even 4 people who could do rotations on a once a
month basis !

we'll need to create study material for the teachers, the students and the
administration. something like manuals. The documentation available online
is good, but it assumes that the reader has some background knowledge of
what is being talked about, and that the reader is desperate to find out
what is written about the topic. It would not go down well with someone
who's not interested in the whole thing anyways.
Something that WOULD attract people, would be to show them stuff tht IS
made on linux... thats why i took up the point of asking LFY to do their
printing on linux, as it would be more of a scoring point for linux, than
having a dedicated mag for it.

I dont know Shourie's stand on Free Software/Linux. I know Mahajan was all
for it, but now that the minister has changed, i dont know what that
signifies for us.

I think another school was available for demos.
Tripta([EMAIL PROTECTED]) can give you more details about the same.
she was the one in touch with the schools.

I believe we'll need to first create the material, some sort of
presentations etc to tell people about linux, open source, free software,
etc and make them aware of an alternative available to them -- of freedom.

Where were you in all our past LAP meetings ? :) all these points have
already been covered though. i do appreciate your enthu for the project.
