for those of you who just can't leave the windows look and feel and
usability, there is some good news. the XPde desktop environment, as
they say, closely resembles windows at the pixel level. at around 9.5 MB
download, it can make you feel that you are running windows 2000/XP (XP
with classic theme or whatever you call it, which looks as Win2k) with
the start menu, display settings, notepad, explorer, calculator etc. the
graphical theme is kde's crystal (by evaraldo), though you don't need
kde installed,

i've downloaded it and have tested it on mandrake 9.0, and though not
very usable (most of the links don't work), it does show the future of
things to come. maybe, pops moms and joe sixpacks will love to work on
this, obviously after it has matured enough.
