[im] problems with the new rare track

On the IM web site, there's a link to the new rare track, the live cover of 
"A Little Rain" by Tom Waits, recorded at the Troubadour in LA, 2-2-96 
(misidentified as 1997).

I don't mean to be critical, but unfortunately, the file they've posted is 
a sonically corrupted, inferior-quality version of a file I originally 
posted several years ago.  Don't bother with theirs; I've posted a much 
better version you can download from here

an IM DAT taper on the west coast; I used a digital clone of his tape for 
the conversion to wave, and ultimately, mp3.

Apparently, someone (not the band) took the original mp3 that I posted, 
converted it to a wave file, did some funky editing (they cut out Karen's 
spoken introduction and even the first couple of chords she plays), and 
then re-compressed to mp3.  Trouble is, every time you re-compress, you 
lose more and more quality; based on the file they've posted, with the 
scratchy, distorted vocal, the file was probably re-compressed any number 
of times.  Dreadful stuff.  Stick closer to the original on this one, folks.

If anyone has problems downloading it from the above link, please let me 
know.  I may put it up on a different server if GeoCities doesn't work out.
