The 1st CD has been temporarily eclipsed by "Umbrella" for me. I purchased both
of them at the same time and started with "Umbrella", which I'm still listening
to a month later :) Your input makes me more eager to discover the 1st one,
though.

I went the pre-order way for "Now The Day Is Over" on Amazon and skimped on
shipping, so now the projected arrival date is 11/17 at the latest. The
advantages of pre-ordering are lost on me at this point, I could have just gone
to a decent record store downtown on Tuesday instead and I'd have been listening
to it for two days already :-P Oh well, lesson learned.

Quoting James Shaw <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

My personal Innocence Mission highest point (there's a whole lot of high
points, for sure) remains "Wonder of Birds" and "Medjugorje" back-to-back
to close the eponymous, 1st album/CD. Sometimes I play it to hear just
those two songs. My favorite entire album is "Birds of My Neighborhood":
to my ears and heart it approaches the transcendent, practically the
definition of how less may be more.

My copy of "Now the Day is Over" arrived yesterday, and I have listened to
it once. It is quite beautiful, and Karen's voice works well on the
standards in the context of the sparse instrumentation. I found myself
thinking about Eva Cassidy's take on "Over the Rainbow" in comparison to
Karen's; both work though their voices could not be more different.

Don, as usual, puts on a clinic in how to record with delicacy and nuance.
Just lovely, so very lovely.
