Interesting perspective. I must admit that I couldn't
help but twitch when I read the words "couldn't
stomach it," but I do understand your perspective.
The band's current sound is completely different from
those first two albums - I believe I've said this many
times on here, but Karen's voice is nowhere near the
same. Luckily, I became a fan after the first album,
so I really liked the early sound, but now I LOVE the
current sound too, particularly Karen's "new" voice.
I do long for a few drums here and there, but I've
never been to a better concert in my entire life than
their "Befriended" trip to Pittsburgh - so intimate
and perfect. I LOVE this band...so glad they're still
making music, and excellent music at that.
By the way, I got the newest album a few weeks ago,
too, and I LOVE it. Karen's voice is a true gift, and
it really shines on this recording.
