Well, I look at it this way..my circumstances are different than yours. Yes, being on the east coast has its advantages. I've had the opportunity to see the Innocence Mission many more times than than fans on the west coast, and some people who live in PA have had even more opportunities over the years than I.

The point is, what works for you doesn't necessarily work for me or someone else. We have an entirely different perspective because of our own unique experiences. How can we base our own opinion relative to your situation? Yes, I'm sure most fans are *very* grateful that we get to see them as often as we do despite the fact they do not have a drummer while performing live. But, just because you haven't seen them in ages does not mean that I or we cannot base our opinions on the fact that we have potentially seen them quite a bit over the last 5 years. So therefore, I must base my opinion on what I've seen and heard and not on what I should be grateful for.

And I am grateful don't get me wrong, but you have to realize a lot of us would love to see them with a drummer again. Even if it isn't a full-time thing. I'll continue to go see them live with or without a drummer as I'm sure most will. We're just saying that a drummer adds a lot more to their overall sound and I believe that's what many of the fans would like to see a return to after 3 1/2 albums of relatively quiet folksy music (Small Planes is really kind of a mix since Steve had a small role).

And when I say drums add more to their overall sound, what I mean is that you can have one song that goes all out with a super amount of energy like "The Wonder of Birds" and then another song without drums at all like "Umbrella". It just adds so much more flexibility in the styles of music you can do on stage. Just imagine, one minute they play "Stay Awake" and the next minute they launch into "Beginning The World" complete with drums.

I mean...how cool would that be?? :)

It's just a dream though..honestly. I don't expect it to happen but if it did I know a lot of fans would be going nuts. The only thing better would be a tour of the US!!
