I saw Sufjan a few months ago, and while he didn't perform "The Lakes of
Canada" (darn!), I will say that his low-key style and sensitive lyrics would
appeal to IM fans. I'm totally smitten with his "Michigan" album, and he put
on a great show.

The fact that he's an IM fan makes him all the better. :)

  Subject: [im] The perfect song

This was mentioned on the yahoo group:

Sufjan Stevens has chosen the innocence mission's song "The Lakes Of Canada"
as his pick for "The Perfect Song" on a recent episode of NPR's All Songs
Considered.

Excerpt: "what I always come back to.. is the small song that makes careful
observations about everyday life. This is what makes the music by The
Innocence Mission so moving and profound..." - Sufjan Stevens

Read Sufjan's entire quote about "The Lakes Of Canada" at All Songs
Considered.

Rumor has it that Sufjan performs "The Lakes Of Canada" live on some
occasions.
