Sorry to be off topic a bit, but I want to let you see an email that I sent to bite.org ------------------ Pentium or Intel is "better" because of AMD and Athlon. Pentium is really better because of AMD, but AMD does have the best wintel chip out there right now because it comptetes against Intel. The old competition makes people better game. Motorola and IBM don't compete against anyone or really each other. They don't have a real incentive to improve. They also don't have the numbers that AMD or Intel have either. Perhaps if Apple buys Motorola and "comptetes" against IBM they will certainly have an incentive and perhaps develop a better colaboration than Motorola and IBM enjoy. IBM is the more secure and financially stable company right now and Apple can soon buy the PowerPC chip rights away from Motorola next year and perhaps the manufacturing plants as well. Good story if someone wants to tell more about why there is a MHz gap. BTW, he got his info wrong in my mind because IBM came to Motorola's and Apple's rescue by making many G3 chips. Many more iBooks and iMacs are sold vs. towers (and few cubes) if IBM truly sells just the G3 chip to Apple. I don't really know off the top of my head. On the one hand I don't care, but they could have credited me with the basis of the article or at least emailed me to let me know they were using my story. Shame on them.
