According to Extention Mangager it, "Lets file sharing clients connect over TCP/IP." and is, " Part of Mac OS9." applications >all >at the same time with no problems. Sometimes it cannot be avoided as some apps are more offending than others (especially browsers). However, it can sometimes be avoided by: 1. Quitting apps in the reverse order of which they were launched. 2. And/or quitting and restarting the Finder (several freeware utilities do this and should be obtainable on versiontracker.com.) 3. Or it can be completely avoided by booting into OSX which is immune to memory leakage. >It is not in the StartUp folder and I do not launch it. So what app calls upon >it? Netscape? Why doesn't it quit when the 'mother app' quits? Perhaps someone else can answer that better than me, but I would think it is just Netscape snagging that memory. Also, Extensions don't really ever "quit". They are sort of like little applications that are always running or available to be run when called upon. They make up part of the System "heap" which is part the RAM allocated to the "Mac OS" that you see in "About This Computer."
