Well, maybe not the machine, but definitely with OS X.
I keep reading how OS X is so fast and how it's
optimized to run so great on the G4. Well, I've got
384MB of RAM, and I am not impressed. Internet
Explorer takes way too long to open (compared to OS 9
version). When you open anything for the first time
after installing (even opening folders) it takes
forever and a day (the little spinning wheel even
comes up opening folders). I installed iPhoto and
it's already unexpectedly quit twice while using it.
I just don't get what the big deal about OS X is. It
was nice when iPhoto crashed that everything else was
fine, though.

But the real kicker was when I put it to sleep, then
tried to wake it up a few minutes later. Nothing
happened. I tried the mouse and the keyboard. Pretty
soon, the optical light on the mouse started
flickering all mad-like. So, I held the power button
in to shut it off, waited a few seconds, and
restarted. It restarted into OS 9! Well, kind of
restarted, that crashed too. It eventually started
into OS 9, but there were no menue bars on the top of
the screen. I could open the hard drive, system
folder, control panels and change the startup disk
back to OS X, then everything seemed to be fine. What
happened? Does anyone live the by the belief that all
new computers should just be reformatted and
reinstalled before using?

Thanks for letting me rant. Any help would be
appreciated. - Josh
