Here's how I finally worked it out:

Original iMovie file burned to Quicktime : 77.1 MB

I next exported the same iMovie file into a Quicktime file using the "Best
quality" settings
and at I think 24 fps : resulting fie size is 440 MB
Too big for me, so I exported the same iMovie file into a Quicktime file
using "Better quality" settings and the same 24 fps : resulting file size
350 MB

I opened the "best quality" Quicktime file using Quicktime Player and
converted it into
an ".avi" file : resulting file size is 150 MB

I then opened Toast, chose ISO 9660 settings and dropped the following files
in:

"Better Quality" Quicktime file 350 MB
         Avi file 150 MB
        Standalone Quicktime installer 9 MB
        Winzip Installer ~ 2 MB

I then burned the CD...

The end result was a CD that could be read both by my Mac and my PC using
friends...

Note: Most of my frineds have older PCs and the Quicktime movies would
streak at times.
The .avi files played using Quicktime / Real Player/ Windows Media
Player
worked better for them. The Quicktime movies played better with my
Mac using friends

The best resolution was a 320 x 240 screen. Increasing the size of
the viewing screen
caused pixelated images and increasing the screen size during the
playing process
caused the audio and the video to lose sync

All in all, I was pleased with the work I have done. I suggest that you try
it sometime, too...
It was a great learning experience importing video and audio, separating
audio tracks,
performing transitions and titles, using fade-ins and fade-outs.

Hope this helps you guys out there make and burn your first iMovie
