As for configuring it, as I recall there's a little web interface thingie. You enter "http://192.168.1.1" in your browser and click on a few screens. I don't remember changing anything on mine except the MAC address (to match the computer that AT&T Broad Brow already had in their database). It is certainly more trouble than setting up an Airport, but then again it costs less than a third as much. I wouldn't describe it as "voodoo." Of course, I wouldn't even describe configuring OS X that way--I reserve that for setting up Windows networking. My description of that for friends who haven't had the "pleasure" of "using" Windows is "it's like an adventure game that isn't any fun."
