First, try your local Goodwill outlet. They usually have TONS of second-hand monitors, usually priced between 9.99 and 19.99... If not Goodwill, try the local computer repair shops---they invariably have a few unclaimed monitors, and they sell 'em cheap ($20 to $40) just to clear off shelf space.
