I wrote the imac list about a stuck CD and got a lot of good responses and solutions. Unfortunately, they didn't work for me so I had to take the drive out and take out the CD.
Now I think I found out what the problem was and for those of you who may be experiencing the same thing here is what I found through trial and error and by accident. After taking the imac apart and drive apart and taking out the CD, I put it back together and I had the same problem. I then took it apart again and put it back together and the same problem. I then took it apart a third time but when I put it back together, I left the plastic cover off just to save me time, expecting to have to take everything apart a fourth time. Much to my surprise it ejected the disc without the plastic cover being on. When I put it on, it wouldn't eject. When I took it off, it ejected. The plastic cover seems to be aligned correctly, but it is difficult to see, but I concluded that the CD was simply hitting the slot loading, felt thing and it was somehow blocking the CD from being ejected. I have had the machine apart many times, so maybe over a period of time things got out of alignment. Does that make sense and has anyone else experienced that?
