Hi folks! I am asking for even more email as this is my THIRD LEM - ish list subscription (Duo, and 68k/vintage)....
I am going to come into possession of a revision A iMac from a friend that is packing up and moving to Oregon. It's a little hurting as I am sure that it is pure stock. i.e. 32 mb of RAM, 4 gig HD, etc. She claims that the CD ROM is shot. My plan is to Ethernet all of her sensitve data to one of my Mac servers at work, and burn the mess to a CD as "Dude, she's getting a Dell". My questions are thus: If the CD ROM is indeed shot, what can I use as a replacement on the inside? Can I go slot load? How far can I take this old gal with RAM and upgrades? I do not wish to bump the processor unless it is easy. What's the mezzanine slot and what can I stick in it? Is X in my future with enough RAM? Thanks!
