Files or folders, that might otherwise be just clutter for a particular user, don't have to show up at all in that user's space, and ones that are unique to that user, don't have to clutter the space of a different user. It's relatively easy to have an overall back-up strategy for big issues, and separate back-up strategies to address the user account requirements as I become aware of them.
