The 350MHz and faster iMacs can support 1024MB of RAM. The earlier models, Revs A-D, can only support 512MB.
Yes, you can put an 80GB HD in it with no problem. Have read reports of people using 120GB drives with no problems. So, so on playing DVDs. Mine, a DV SE, could not mount certain DVDs or CDs. I think that the ones it couldn't mount were produced as CD-R, or CD-RW. Not sure about the type of DVD that wouldn't mount. Apple has posted firmware and DVD-ROM upgrades that help alleviate the problem, but there still remained some discs that it couldn't mount. I ended up buying an external Formac Firewire CD drive that opens everything just fine. All in all, it's a very nice machine. The DVD mounting and playback issue is likely your only concern. You may want to try out your DVDs on it, if you can, to see if it mounts and plays them. Jerry ------------------------------------------ <<hello, I'm going to look at a used Grape iMac Dv tomorrow and I had a few questions. It's has a 400 MHz processor, 10 GIG HD, and 64 megs of RAM. Apple specs on this model say I can add up to 512 Megs of RAM. 256 Meg per slot. Could I put 512 chips in each slot for a total of 1024? I just bought a 80 GIG HD to put into my 266 MHz Lime iMac. Wouldn't it also fit into the iMac DV? How good are they at playing DVD discs? anything else I should look for when checking it out?>> -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
