Renaat, I'm not sure if this was answered. For the purposes of installing OS 10.2, you don't have to install the DVD Player 2.7 firmware update; however, 2.7 is supposed to improve the playing of CDs and DVDs on the slot loaders, so it won't hurt to install it..might make playing of disks less problematic...maybe.
Regarding your question on whether you should install 4.1.9 on a 600MHz Graphite, yes definitely! All slot loaders should be upgraded to Firmware 4.1.9, at least if you are going to install OS 10.2. It corrects some bug issues when running OS 9, so it would be beneficial for OS 9 also. Jerry ------------------------ <<I just updated the Firmware of my iMac with the Firmware update 4.1.9. But now I'm wondering if I also have to use the firmware update Apple DVD Player 2.7 (found on http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58174)? Of course I've read the information about it, but I'm still not very sure and I don't want to take any risk. I've got a slot loading 400 Mhz iMac with Os 9.2.2. Is there a site or an other way to get automatically informed when there is new firmware for my computer?>> -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
