Yes, which is why I don't like digests. > Do you realize that in some parts of the world, people have limited > mailbox size and even pay for Internet access by the time they are > connected or the bandwidth they use? Yes, I had an account like that, although e-mail didn't use up much time or bandwidth - web browsing or downloading files did. > Do you understand that your message ends up on hundreds of hard drives > around the world, and not all of them have huge hard drives? That shouldn't matter - that's what the trashcan (or delete) is for, and most email programs allow you to set your preferences to delete old messages automatically as often as you tell it to. > It's simple consideration of others that leads us to ask that you only > quote the portions of the original email you're actually responding to. > Don't be so lazy as to be rude. > > Dan the listmom If you had been keeping up with the posts, you'd know that all of this was already covered when I first asked the question. Until your e-mail to me recently, I had never heard of trimming as a consideration to others, which is why I asked - you had failed to mention why it was important. It was an issue that I was unaware of before, and no one had ever mentioned it to me in the seven years I've been online. So, naturally I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. It never seemed to matter to anyone before in my experience. It isn't rude if I didn't know it was an issue. In my opinion, it still isn't all that important. It's just e-mail after all. Now that I know about it, I will be mindful about trimming - just as I said in a previous post. Gerry -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
