I installed OS X (10.1) several months ago, on my 600 MHz graphite iMac (384
MB of memory), but I abandoned it almost immediately when I found that only
a dozen or so of my documents had transferred over to OS X with my "Mike's
Docs" folder. My 'Albums' database had also failed to make the crossing
(though my three other databases made it). I decided to stay in OS 9.2,
because a) I could access all of my documents and databases from 9.2, and b)
I had been told (wrongly, as it turned out) that my Epson 740 printer would
not work with OS X.

But a few days ago, on one of my rare visits to OS X, I discovered that all
of my 'lost' documents were actually in a 'Disabled items' folder (which I
traced back to my 'Users' folder - my "Mike's Docs" folder was somewhere
else). In addition, I found that many - not all - of the documents in the
"Mike's docs" folder were no longer in the folders I had organized them
into. They were dispersed throughout the folder.

Everything seems to be fine now, but what I'm curious to know is why the
vast majority of the documents in the "Mike's Docs" folder were made
invisible to me (by being put in the 'Disabled Items' folder) during the
transfer to OS X. Any ideas, anyone?
