About $500 when they were new. :) Actually there are a ton of differences, far to many to go into detail about. Suffice to say that Photoshop works in professional colourspaces, with professional tools and professional power (and a serious learning curve if your really want to master it), whereas PhotoDeluxe is more like Fisher-Price's "My First Bitmap Editor" with lots of handholding, "wizards" and PC interface style. I'm not saying PhotoDeluxe (or the later PhotoElements) is a bad thing ... far from it! For most casual users it's all they need to scan, fix and edit nice pictures. And the price (compared to the full Photoshop) is a steal. > I have a Umax Astra1600 scanner - which works best > with the scanner? Thanks, John Brownsberger Either, they use exactly the same "plug-in" -- VistaScan, the software that came with your scanner. _Chas_ Come to ...
