If I remember right you had an older iMac so I'm assuming classic OS 
(8 or 9).  Look in your system folder for a folder named "scripts," 
and inside that for a folder named "finder scripts" - or search 
(command-f) for "script" and check what shows up.

These are "canned" scripts so there's nothing you really need to know 
to run them - if you double-click, Apple's script editor will open up 
& show the script.  Ignore everything but the "run" button - hit that 
& it should go.

I use OSA menu, freeware which puts these scripts in a drop-down menu 
on the right of the menu bar, but that's not necessary if it's a very 
occasional thing.
