Hi John, thanks for the info.

it's disturbing to me that there are so many folks on the apple.com
discussions groups who have some kind of connection problem with their macs.
quite a few say when they plug a PC into the same line, it works fine (i've
never owned a pc; this is my 3rd mac).

i don't know if it's just because macs are starting to suck or if the world of
technology is just SO COMPLEX that it keeps breaking down at this point or
another NO MATTER WHAT WE OWN OR DO.

I am sure that the latter is true to a degree. But I hate seeing the number
of messages in many, many of the apple.com discussion groups who describe
UTTER FRUSTRATION with some aspect of their mac.

I know from experience that folks on this list hate it when I talk like this
cuz they think i'm a whiner, compainer, chronically negative (these and more
slurs like them have all been used in attacking me for some of my very simple
posts like the one you are reading now).

When I bring up the Fact that macs are supposed to be simple and "just work" I
get met with either outrage or incomprehension.

So. Why doesn't my i(internet)mac, "just work" like "their" (apple's)
propaganda says?? Cuz no one would buy them if the line was macs "may work"
but be prepared to spend a hell of a lot of time making that happen.

And when I write like this on this list (which I've refrained from doing for a
LONG TIME cuz folks get so fanatically hostile towards me), folks act like I'm
the only one who thinks like this and that only morons would dare suggest that
macs are WAY WAY WAY to complex.

I guess they just ignore all the stuff on all the mac sites out there with
people complaining. or maybe they have forgotten what "simple" means and they
get off on having complex, pesky computers like the pc crowd used to as a way
of demonstrating how smart they are.

I don't know.

Anti-flame apparatus fully engaged!!

P.S. when I say "they" please realize that I am not referring to everyone who
is on this list. That would be preposterous. All I know is that a LOT of
people get really po'd when someone questions the very integrity and
foundation apple is supposed to rest upon: i.e., a computer for the rest of us
(the non-techies)
