It really seems at this point there is no one browser that satisfies all. Without exception they are crash prone. I've always had two or three browsers on hand, using IE for those sites where the others failed to display correctly or understand input.
IExploder: For a fully released product, is neither fast nor functional enough. Bombs far too often. Netscape: Well, no. I won't give up that many CPU cycles. Used to love it under Linux and older Macs. I'll admit to obvious bias here. iCab: A favorite(under OS 8 and 9) seems hobbled or slowed by the UNIX challenge. Opera: Works better under Win2K. Not so on X. Really too bad. I think they could exploit the interface more effectively. Under Windows, you can open a bevy of tabs/windows within the main window - a great space saver. Also the Win version has a nice email client. Mozilla: Full featured. Has mail client. Just can't stand the spinning ball and the wait. Have not tried the latest release. Chimera: My current standard is progressing nicely. Far fewer "Application has exited" messages - in fact, none since 0.6. I like the tabs and the background windows and it agrees with the way I work. So far so good. Early versions crashed after with more than five open tabs. that's fixed. It has remained my primary and I no longer rely on IE. Chimera's CPU usage is improving. No longer do I kill it several times a day/week. Safari: Trying it out. Not thrilled at the prospect of having more than one of these large (but elegant) windows open. See, I have a Rev. C iMac so real estate is at a premium. Seems zippy - perhaps seems more so than Chimera. I would be they still have some debug code in there that add speed once taken out. Hope they iron out problems and not leave it 'unfinished' a la iCal. This is only my opinion. Others' views will differ. It's important to find what works for you. My pet peeve is CPU usage. --- /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ _/ /_/ Jacques Brierre [EMAIL PROTECTED] /_/ /_/ Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. /_/ /_/ See http://www.fsf.org/philosophy/no-word-attachments.html /_/ /_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/_/ _/ -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
