I'm not sure if there is enough information below, my father is having a networking problem and I'm hoping someone has some suggestions I can send to him. He states:
> I have a pc that is connected to the > internet and 5 Macintoshes that are connected to a LAN thought an airport > base station.. Some of the Macs on the LAN side are connected directly to > airport and the others to ethernet. My problem is with the pc. I can no > longer ftp from the pc to the Macs that are on the airport side of the LAN, > whether they receive by wireless or by ethernet. I can do it by rearranging > the wires that go into the airport base station, but that's a pain. > Somehow, I need to find out how I can talk to my Macs from the pc. The 5 > Macs, by the way, have no problem talking to each other either by wireless > or by ethernet. > > I've never had problems with ftp from the Dell to my Macs before I installed > airport. What happens now is when I try to connect, I get a response that > it has connected -- but then nothing happens. No request for user sign in > and password. After a while, the connection closes with a message > "Connection closed by remote host." So, the request is getting through. > It's just not allowing a response. I have this problem whether I'm in OS 9 > or OS X, so it's some kind of an airport problem. I'm sure there must be > some kind of solution, but I've yet to find it. > -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
