No it's controllable from the "Internet" control panel in system preferences. Click on the "e-mail' tab. It selects Mac's mail as default, but if you click the tab it will give you a "select" option, and you can tell it what mailer you want to be the default mailer. In Mac mail the outgoing message always give you the option of selecting what mailer to use as the address for the sent message.
