Most people want an incredibly simple, no-hassle, nice-looking way to throw some pics up on the web. New baby, family reunion, my trip, summer vacation, etc. For these people, iPhoto and/or Homepage offers a great way to do it, hassle-free and good-looking. Incidentally there is also a little-know Resume template for Homepage for putting your cv on the web. Steve Jobs' resume is posted .Mac also offers a nice and easy way to do your own custom pages. Simply create the pages in whatever program you like, upload to the Sites folder on your iDisk and BOOM you're online. This is considerably easier than the way most ISPs do homepages. .Mac and Homepage are also BY FAR the easiest way to put an audio or video presentation on the web. However, some people (those who want to go further than basic pages) outgrow this and want to do something a little fancier (some CGI perhaps, or a little e-commerce, or just something beyond the basic capabilities of Homepage). Those people (who represent an incredibly tiny portion of computer users) will need something better than Homepage, and are likely to be serious enough about it to do the learning (of HTML or XML or CSS or what have you) and the buying (Dreamweaver, GoLive, Pagespinner, Freeway et al) to get up to "semi-pro" or "pro" levels. _Chas_ "We don't want to be like Windows.
