Original question: I am running OS X 10.1 and I am trying to upgrade to 10.1.3, however, I need an update to the installer. I have it but when I try to install it all the drives are grayed out.
Is there any place I can download the updated installer as an application rather than a package? I tried Pacifist 1.0 & 1.5.2 but they won't run. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I only got one reply from David Anders: http://www.applelinks.com/articles/2002/01/20020111142525.shtml Friday, January 11, 2002 By Applelinks Contributing Editor Charles W. Moore Apple has finally posted a Knowledge Base article that clarifies the sequence of update installs required to advance from Mac OS X 10.1 to later versions, entitled "Mac OS X 10.1: Cannot Install Mac OS X 10.1.X Update" The document explains that "numbered" updates to Mac OS X 10.1, such as Mac OS X 10.1.1 or 10.1.2, require the Security Update 10-19-01 and Installer Update 1.0 to be installed first, whether you use Automatic Software Update or a (manual) Web download update. Before installing a Mac OS X 10.1.x update, such as the Mac OS X 10.1.1 update or Mac OS X 10.1.2 update, you must first download and install, in order: € Security Update 10-19-01 and € Installer Update 1.0 (which requires Security Update 10-19-01 to be installed first) Fortunately, these are relatively small installer files. Once they are both installed, you may install the latest Mac OS X 10.1.x update. To recap, the upgrade path from Mac OS 10.1 tothe Mac OS X 10.1.2 is: 1. Install Mac OS X 10.1 2. Install Security Update 10-19-01 (and restart) 3. Install Installer Update 1.0 (and restart) 4. Install Mac OS X 10.1.2 Combo Updat -------------- Contact Me -------------- David Anders - The Computer Guy Seattle http://www.acme-help.com (under construction) [EMAIL PROTECTED] 206-286-8438 ------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I found out that Apple changed things a bit. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120086 This article contains information about Security Update 10-19-01 and links to the Security Update 10-19-01 software download Important: This update is no longer necessary. Use Security Update 7-18-02 instead. It seems strange that all this isn't available from software update!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- It also replaced the installer update, however, there are more than one Security Update 7-18-02 depending which version of OS X you are updating from.
