Good artists copy, great artists steal. In this instance Gates falls into the former category, they don't have a finger in Apple Pie they just copy everything as they see it. The fact that might be before the public is purely software developers advantage. Imagine the damage Adobe could do if they wrote an OS and copied the elements of the current Betas of OS X they have in-shop for app develpment. It's really not all that different. In software development you are no greater than the greatest idea you have *tomorrow*, because the one you had yesterday has already been copied.
