Norton, DiskWarrior and Techtool are all decent repair tools. Personally
I would keep a minimum of at least DW and either Norton or TT around for
emergencies. All three is even better because sometimes Norton will be
able to fix a problem TT is unable to, and vice versa. It's not a clear
cut situation where one disk utility stands out as being superior. In
fact, MacAddict magazine is no longer reviewing Disk utilities this year
for that very reason.

Norton has in the past done some very bad things to some users disks
when it wasn't upgraded soon enough. This is no longer a concern with
the latest Norton and MacOS, but I would be extremely careful not to run
_any_ repair utility on a system newer than it's system requirements.

I don't know about firewire modems, but a couple of years ago when I
went in search of a USB modem, I was told by several AppleCentre
technicians that the Mac drivers available were complete crap and not
worth the hassle.
