Hi,
I have been using my new G5 iMac for a few months now
Gosh! Did you get an advance prototype or what?? :-)
and want to change how I log in. Can I switch the "admin" account that I have been logging in for daily usage to a new "admin" account that I wouldn't use daily and make my daily "admin" account a "standard" account? __________________ Jim
Should be quite easy, although not too elegant. Go to System Preferences/Accounts. Create a new account with standard privileges, then click on 'Login options' at the bottom of the sidebar in the Accounts pane. Choose 'log in automatically as' the new standard account you have created. Before logging out of your admin account move (duplicate?) all your files to the new account home folder. Change permissions en masse to the new user so that on logging back in under the new user name you can open all your old files (use Batchmod if you encounter any problems).
I hope this works,
Walter
