What about the reported problems of mail just disappearing from your
hard drive and the reports of mail not being sent even though the
program says it has been?

1. First I've ever heard of it.
2. Hasn't happened to me. Mail stores its files in MBOX format which is a heck of a lot "safer" than Eudora's and Entourage's proprietary formats. Ever heard of backups?
3. Mail, like all other email programs, relies on a signal sent by the receiving SMTP server before it counts a mail as sent, so those report of Mail saying things are sent when they aren't are simply bogus.
4. Puh-lease. And I suppose you know of an email program that has never had a bug or problem.
