Hi folks
A few years back, I got my first Macintosh - a summer 2000 G3. It's been great, especially under Panther, although its seems to have developed a hardware fault.
Every so often, the display starts to break up into little jagged black lines down the left hand side of the screen. More often than not, these lines extend the full width of the screen, rendering it unwatchable. Ocassionally, it turns completely black.
I've got by with an svga monitor plugged into the port on the back of the iMac. Presumably this means there's nothing wrong with the actual video card in the computer, which leads me to suspect the tube. Has anyone else experienced this problem before and can you offer any advice? While I can use the svga, I'd really much rather use the built in display.
I'm also hoping to get a G5 iMac soon. Can anyone tell me what the x/y screen dimensions of the 17" and 20" models are?
Well, if they use the 16:9 aspect ratio of DTV, then the diagonal ratio value is 18.358. So, dividing the diagonal measurement by the diagonal ratio gives us, a multiplier of .926 for the 17" and 1.089 for the 20". Now multiplying 16 & 9 by those values results in the following:
17": 14.816" wide by 8.334" high 20": 17.424" wide by 9.801" high
Thank Pythagoros for the above. -- Sincerely, Dennis B. Swaney
