I would suggest telling it only to sleep the monitor, and not spin down
the hard drive.

Before my recent first iMac experience I useed a B&W G3. On it I'd

all power saving devices and auto update so as to keep Diablo II up and

from the game.
I intended to do the same with my iMac, but it doesn't seem so simple.
I'm
using OS 9.1 and think I have all energy-saving stuff turned off. When
I
switch the monitor off though it seems more like putting it to sleep.
Most
of the time when I go back to my game one or more features are
unavailable
to me (esp right and middle mouse buttons) until I exit and restart the
game. Or the game itself will crash with Type 2 error upon waking up.
Is there a way to simply turn the monitor on and off without putting
it to
sleep?
Thanks for any info.
