Yes, I remember EVERYTHING EVERYONE HAS EVER WRITTEN ABOUT
EVERYTHING, even after days on end, and don't need the reminder.
Puh-lease. I'm not going to get into this except to say that only
inconsiderate boobs top-post. There is, however one thing MUCH worse
than top-posting, and that's OVERQUOTING -- which both top- and
bottom-posters on this list (and elsewhere) do ENTIRELY too much of.
Oh yes, TYPING IN ALL CAPS ALL THE TIME is annoying too. Oh wait ...
that's me isn't it? Sorry! :)
When receiving 200+ selfish cries for help daily, there is no hope of
organizing threads (RE: My busted computer) nor any choice in whether
to reply or not -- it's your job. To get it done in the most
efficient
manner, you hit Reply straight from the Inbox list, read the quote,
and
type immediately upon finishing.
Like I said -- inconsiderate, unthinking boobs. The proper way to
reply to inquiries is made up of one word. That's right, *one word.*
And that word is "trim."
TRIM the quote to just the ACTUAL portion you are replying to, and
reply to it. If you need to address more than one point in a post (as
I'm doing) then TRIM the second point and reply to it (as I'm doing).
Above all, *do not* repost the entire freaking letter (and/or entire
digest, ads and disclaimers and all) at the end of your freakin' reply!
IOW, the *right* way to participate in an email list is to put some
effort into it both in posting AND replying. If you can't do that,
LEAVE.
In fact, the most
common and natural use of listservs is ARGUING!
I notice that people too lazy to format their posts often think this
-- but it's their perception only because their selfish attitude
CAUSES this conflicts.
