Hi Well after much help from iMac List, google and a few other mailing lists I have resolved my problems.
Toast 6 Titanium doesn't like encoding files when Quicktime 7 or 7.01 is installed, this is big problem for Tiger users as it comes as standard. After struggling to uninstall Quicktime I finally managed it and reinstalled Quicktime 6.5.2 and encoded a bunch of AVI's to DVD using Toast.
