Hi,
So I finally joined the club and decided the richest men on Earth have suffered
long enough. So I am no longer an OS 9.22 hold out. However I have a couple of
gripes. Much of the shareware I'd like to use requires 10.2, so that's another
30
bucks to get the CDs, Internet Explorer still doesn't support the Java which is
needed to for example access gmail or even this spymac account. iCab and
Netscape
do but both "unexpectedly quit." Well it was unexpected the first time after
that
I generally anticipate these 2 crapping out on me after a half hour or so.
Perhaps
that problem will be resolved with the 10.2 disc. Also I wonder where the
system
profiler is or why the function keys that in 9.22 allowed me to launch
applications
or run scripts that launched more than one appliction don't anymore. The dock
is
annoying, it either blocks what's on the screen or when it is off screen you
can't
just click and have it stay while you use it, like the little zipper at the
bottom
of the 9.22 screen, or if there is a way to do this I have yet to discover it.
But finally my question for folks is, I was a little hasty getting X on my new
computer and thus had not upgraded the 9.04 that it came with up to 9.22 and as
a
result cannot run classic, which considering the $2k of os 9 software I have is
a
concern. the pop up box tells me to refer to the documentation which this
computer,
since it is used didn't come with. So if anyone knows if there is a way I can
shoehorn in the upgrades to get classic running please let me know.
matt
