Both parts are very well tested in their independent functions attached to many other types of devices in many other situations, so this will be reliable and drivers should be easy to find. You won't need drivers at all for the modem, just that your ppp program supports the AT command set and they all do. External modems can be expensive, but you can get some very good deals on used ones. I got a US Robotics Courier v.90 for $5 at the the surplus property shop at the university in my town. I have gotten others at thrift shops and free, but that was the best deal. Hope that helps. Nick
