Our G4 iMac flatpanel 15", on which we recently installed 10.4.4, now sleeps too hard. It won't wake up from sleep unless we lightly touch the on-off button. This wasn't true in previous OSX version 10.3.9. Is this a bug in the OS or ...?
Not sure what you mean here. Once the processor has gone to idle mode, pressing that button is, by design, what's supposed to wake the machine... Are you saying that wasn't the case before? Perhaps you just had the screen dimming, per the screen saver?
Changing the sleep settings can be a bit wonky, because Apple's Energy Saver prefs aren't a clean/complete GUI to the underlying *nix tools. In general, if you want to lessen a sleep setting, it's often better to turn off sleep completely, close the preference pane, then reenter it and reset things.
